I would recommend. No complaints at all with the performance. After installation the riser works great.
My kit was missing 2 roll pins that should have been included. After I thought I was running into the "short cord" issue mentioned by others, I realized that the instructions specifically said to run the cord behind the dust chute. As others have stated, you can use a 1 1/4" wrench though it doesn't fit exactly right.
After doing that, it worked fine. Good quality materials. Cost less than $1 at hardware store.
Other than that installation was pretty simple.
The riser block fit well, just needed to file the pins for a better fit. The wheels were in plane with each other and well balanced. Since I work alone, I took the bandsaw apart in the box, in the back of my p/u so I could carry smaller pieces into my shop.
The saw is well made as is the riser block and bearing guides, but remember, this is a $500 asian made saw, not a high end $2000 saw, so things will have to get tweeked a little. Overall it works fine and the added height is great. I recomend getting another drive belt(I used a link belt)as the cheap one that came with the saw caused the entire saw to vibrate even after running for a while.
I just recently bought another 14" delta bandsaw and decided to get the riser kit and carter bearing guides at the same time. I did it alone and had no problem at all. For the money it is a good investment.
I took some time adjusting and filing any machined mating surfaces before putting things back together. Have a couple of 1 1/8-1 1/4" wrenches handy, and a helper is an added bonus.
For Resaw I found 3 TPI skip in 1/2 inch and 4 tpi skip in 3/16 to work really excellent. I can easily cut 1/16 thin veineer accurately. I would not recommend using Delta blades. Great Product. Got mine from BC Saw, great service and the difference between Delta blades is unbelieveable. Just need a 1 1/4 or 19 MM socket wrench to secure the bolt. Went together easily. I also needed to adjust carefully the rear guard so that it would not catch the blade.
It is not that big of a deal, but a bit annoying. The blade guard needs to be loosened and moved when raising the guide very high. It is bit cumbersome to raise the blade guide.
I finally purchased one and installed it. The quality of the parts is excellent except for the front blade guard extension. I have had my Delta band saw for about 6 years and always wanted to add the height attachment.
I think the engineering here was a bit lacking. If it were not for this issue, I would have given it 5 stars. Installation was simple although it takes two people to accomplish the task.
You will need a 1 1/4" socket or box end wrench to attach the riser block.
Total time was less than an hour working unassisted. I didn't like the small contact area of the square head bolt that holds the assembly together so I added a flat washer to that end also (after grinding one side of round washer to clear casting). I added this to my old delta 14" bandsaw. Had to use the supplied adapter to attach the new front blade guard, but that was no problem.
